Dr Eleanor Hyde is a Consultant in both Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine with a strong track record in managing complex pain cases, leading regional pain services, and contributing to significant service developments. Her NHS practice is based at the University of Southampton Hospital and Solent and Southern Heath boards in Wessex.
She is skilled in both inpatient and outpatient pain management, including interventional procedures, with a commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovative practices and effective leadership. She also has an interest in the gut-brain axis and regenerative medicine.
She obtained a first-class degree from Cambridge University in 2005 before completing her MBBS at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry with Distinction in 2009. She was awarded several prizes for excellence, including a Bateman Scholarship, the Bridager Hayward award and Harvey Mansien prize.
She undertook her resident years in London, including working at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, The Royal London Hospital, Kings College Hospital, St Georges Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital. During her specialist pain training at St Thomas’s she was elected as the Faculty of Pain Medicine’s Advanced Pain Training representative and set up a national educational programme for pain medicine which still runs today.
She relocated to Hampshire in 2021 for family reasons and since then has worked as a Consultant at the University of Southampton Hospital. Her day-to-day practice involves a variety of acute and chronic pain services, including the regional pelvic MESH removal and Spinal Cord Stimulator services.
She is specialist in diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic pain conditions. These include musculoskeletal conditions (such as back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain), pelvic and coccyx pain, headache, functional and widespread pain conditions including fibromyalgia and long-covid and regional pain conditions such as CRPS.
She takes a thorough and bespoke approach to each consultation to ensure the best possible outcome for those she cares for.
