We are pleased to welcome both self-pay and insured patients, and we now work with most major insurers.
This includes a detailed assessment with a specialist consultant in Pain Medicine, covering your medical history, current symptoms, and a personalised treatment plan. The fee includes the cost of writing any initial prescriptions, if needed.
If your specialist recommends initiation of a medication during an appointment, then there is no charge for this prescription.
You can obtain repeat prescriptions easily through our secure online portal.
This is the cost for a typical full-panel blood test. Prices may vary depending on your needs.
MRI prices vary depending on the length and complexity of the scan. Please reach out to us for an accurate quote.
Our specialists may recommend investigations to provide further clarity or help them reach a diagnosis. If appropriate, you may be given a prescription for medication at your appointment.

Sedation or anaesthesia from £300. Fees depend on the length and complexity of the procedure and will be quoted in advance.
The prices below indicate the total amount payable for some of our more common procedures. These fees are ‘all inclusive’, including consultant and hospital fees. Any sedation fees and a follow up fee as required are quoted in advance.

We remain happy to provide your care at the self-pay prices listed on this page.
They may be able to authorise a consultant who is not part of Wessex Pain Clinic. This may be further afield. Our team can help with transferring your care if a referral letter has already been sent to us.
Bupa’s contractual arrangements do not allow us to accept a Bupa payment with a patient-funded “top-up”. It is possible that another consultant outside of Wessex Pain Clinic may charge you a top up fee. This is because some consultants remain on legacy contracts which enable this option. Bupa have not made this arrangement available to any Wessex Pain Clinic Consultants.

Unfortunately Wessex Pain Clinic are no longer able provide Bupa-funded consultations or procedures.
Bupa’s remuneration has fallen significantly behind inflation over many years. Its current reimbursement model no longer allows us to provide care sustainably while maintaining the time and attention we believe our patients need.
We have made repeated requests to discuss these concerns and find a workable agreement, but these have been unsuccessful. This is not our preferred outcome. We would prefer to continue caring for our Bupa-funded patients and recognise the frustration and disruption this decision may cause.
This change relates solely to funding arrangements. It does not reflect any concern about our consultants’ clinical expertise or the quality of our care, nor does it call into question the clinical need for your pain management assessment or treatment.
We have specifically asked Bupa to continue funding care for patients already undergoing treatment with us. Unfortunately, Bupa has confirmed that funding cannot continue once our recognition ends, even where treatment began beforehand.
We remain open to discussions with Bupa and would welcome the opportunity to resume providing Bupa-funded care if its position changes and sustainable terms can be agreed.
