Dr Matt Stubbs

Dr Matt Stubbs is a widely acclaimed Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia, with extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating a broad range of pain conditions.

He graduated with first-class honours in Clinical Sciences from University College London and was awarded triple-distinction in Medicine from Bart’s & The Royal London School of Medicine. He completed specialist residency in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia in London and Wessex, earning fellowships with both the Faculty of Pain Medicine and the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He has received multiple prizes and awards for excellence throughout his career.

Specialising in interventional procedures, Dr Stubbs undertook further post-certification fellowship at the world-renowned Pain and Neuromodulation Centre at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals. He specialised in advanced treatments for back pain, complex spine, neuropathic pain, musculoskeletal pain, and a wide range of complex conditions including CRPS, fibromyalgia and abdominal/pelvic pain. Additionally, he developed specialist skills in headache, migraine, and facial pain at the world-class GSTT Headache Centre.

Committed to innovation, Dr Stubbs is the forefront of emerging technologies in pain, regenerative medicine and digital healthcare. He has considerable experience in advanced techniques, including spinal cord stimulation and DRG neuromodulation.

A passionate educator, researcher and innovator, Dr Stubbs serves as Faculty Tutor for Pain Medicine, co-chairs the YI Council of the International Society of Pain & Neuromodulation (ISPN) and sits on several national and international committees. He has been practicing in Wessex since 2015, where he co-founded the Wessex Pain Clinic. His NHS base is in Portsmouth, Hampshire, where he lives with his family. Outside of medicine, he enjoys sports, travel, technology and aviation.
